Mumbai Monsoon Intensifies: Heavy Rainfall Affects Traffic Across Several Areas

Continuous showers have impacted daily life in parts of Mumbai, with authorities urging residents to stay alert and follow weather advisories.

Rainfall plays a significant role in defining Mumbai’s climate and provides the much-needed rainfall every year. Even though the rain brings in some positive aspects like improved water levels and reduced summer heat, there are certain problems too, which include waterlogging, traffic jams, etc.

There have been moderate to heavy rains across various parts of the city in the last 24 hours, including areas like Andheri, Kurla, Sion, Dadar, Hindmata, Parel, Bandra, Powai, Chembur, parts of Navi Mumbai, among others. Waterlogging has also taken place in low-lying areas, and thus there has been slow traffic movement during the peak hour times. The local trains were running late only on a few routes.

The IMD has issued a bulletin to citizens asking them to stay informed about the weather forecast and avoid traveling unnecessarily in case of heavy rainfalls. It also requests people to avoid driving through waterlogged streets.

It is interesting to note that today’s technology has helped to make better predictions regarding weather forecasts. Modern technology like artificial intelligence helps in predicting the rainfall pattern and traffic management systems.
