Google Unveils Gemini 3: Elon Musk, Sam Altman Share Their Reactions

New AI Model by Google Boasts Advanced Multimodal Reasoning, Unified Performance Across Platforms; Industry Leaders React Swiftly

Tech giants weigh in as Google pushes the next stage of AI innovation.

Google has officially announced Gemini 3, the new flagship model of AI, sending ripples throughout the tech community. The CEO, Sundar Pichai, underlined that Gemini 3 combines the benefits of its predecessors and offers better reasoning capability and deeper multimodal processing. The model is designed to run at peak performance across Google’s AI ecosystem, marking a massive leap in the company’s AI roadmap.

The announcement almost immediately grabbed the attention of luminaries in artificial intelligence. Elon Musk, CEO of xAI, a direct competitor to Google, responded with a terse but not insubstantial “Congrats” on X. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman chimed in to say that Gemini 3 “looks like a great model,” his version of professional respect in a highly competitive industry.

Gemini 3 is based on the building blocks of its predecessors: Gemini 1, from the powerful multimodal features; Gemini 2, focusing on smarter reasoning and agent-like features; and Gemini 2.5 Pro, with record-breaking benchmark scores. The new version unifies all these developments and powers everything from Google Search’s AI mode to the Gemini mobile app, AI Studio, Vertex AI, and the newly unveiled Antigravity agent-development platform.

The model improves the way users interact with information by allowing them to learn from videos, documents, and handwritten notes; to create personalized study material; to analyze large datasets; and even to assess sports performance. Developers get new tools to help them in building apps, web designs, 3D assets, and automating workflows. Pichai also added that while the AI market is booming, there are signs of “irrational” investment enthusiasm, as Alphabet’s market valuation nears US$3.5 trillion.
