Bank of Baroda Data Leak: Massive Cybersecurity Breach Raises Concerns Over Customer Data Safety
A compromised employee email allegedly exposed hundreds of gigabytes of sensitive banking data, while the bank assures customers that its core banking systems remain secure.
A significant cybersecurity attack on Bank of Baroda has raised new apprehensions about the security of customer data after a considerable amount of sensitive data related to banking was allegedly leaked on the dark web. As per reports, the security breach began due to an email of an employee being hacked and providing access to various sensitive data. It is believed that the information includes personal information of the customers, identity documents, loan details, and confidential data although the extent of the breach is currently being probed by authorities.
The Bank of Baroda has stated that there was indeed a cybersecurity attack and its core banking operations are safe. The bank has begun investigating the case with the help of cybersecurity experts. The investigation will also help in improving the security of the banking system of the Bank of Baroda.
It has been recommended by cybersecurity experts that customers should be wary of any kind of phishing emails, fake calls, and other kinds of fraud through communication because cyber criminals tend to use their information to scam people financially.
